ABI / Thatcham 10 cheapest cars
for car insurance

According to the ABI / Thatcham car insurance 1-50 rating system that
allocates every motor with a car insurance
group rating, the UK's top 10 cheapest cars to insure are as follows:
1. Citroen C1
2. Toyota Aygo or C1
3. Peugeot 107
4. Vauxhall Corsa
5. Ford Fiesta
6. Chevrolet Matiz
7. VW Fox
8. Fiat Grande Punto
9. Nissan Micra
10. Skoda Fabia
There are no great surprises here. These are all small 'run around'
cars with small engines, all largely in competition with each other for
the same market sector.
It's a useful list for young drivers in particular to choose their
first car from if they don't wish to be stung with a larger car
insurance premium than is necessary, at least until they have built up
some no claims discount.
Indeed, in these days of ever-increasing fuel and general motoring
costs, it is likely that this group of cars will become of interest to
an increasingly larger group of people keen to reduce these costs.
In fact, there is already evidence that people are beginning to trade
down in terms of engine size and the level of their car insurance cover.
