Car Insurance Quotations from the
Car Insurance
UK Supermarket
It has never been easier to
get UK car insurance quotations online. But, the ready availability of
multiple online quotations to anyone who wants them also has the effect
that it has never been easier to select the wrong policy. Indeed, price
comparison sites are set up in a way that encourages people to pay
insufficient attention to the policy and too much attention to the
price.
How can you safeguard yourself against choosing the wrong policy when
you get car insurance quotations from a price comparison system?
Well, the first thing to do is to embrace the reality that you pay for
what you get. Buy a policy that's tens of pounds less than its nearest
rival then you have simply identifed an insurer that has been inventive
in cutting their costs to pass them onto you. Clearly, by any objective
criteria, this is not the wisest of choices.
Taking account of the above in relation to the car
insurance quotations provided by any aggregator system, it
quickly emerges that often the second, third or lower quotes are a
better choice if you are to meet a minimum acceptable level of cover.
You therefore need to know what your minumum inclusion criteria are and
to assess the policies associated with the car insurance
quotations you get to see if they meet your requirements. But this is
not a particularly easy thing to do when you are getting only
summarised or no policy information from the price comparison site.
Our suggestion would be to consult the insurance company's own website
for more information whenever necessary. Don't be surprised if you need
to check several insurers directly before you find even one of the
listed car insurance quotations to be satisfactory unless
you are happy with limited cover.
From the above, it is evident that the more quality of cover matters to
you, the less useful price comparison sites become. The more efficient
approach then is to go direct to leading insurers for car insurance
quotations, as these insurers tend to offer better cover, which, like
for like, is generally highly competitive. Direct Line, for example,
and M&S are very popular for this reason. It is because they do not
compare like with like that price comparison sites offer reduced
utility at the quality end of the spectrum.
It can be seen from this that the UK's ever-increasing love affair with
price comparison sites as their primary source of car insurance
quotations in some ways applies the wrong model, and not a prudent one,
to the purchase of cover for their motor car.
