If you want to compare quotes, including from Budget car insurance, please use our 'Budget Car Insurance' link above.The Budget Insurance Group (now BISL Ltd) started out in 1992 as an underwriter. In 1997, they shifted to an insurance intermediary (broker) model and grew rapidly from that point. It was their affinity division formed in 2002, Junction, that had the greatest impact on this growth, as they have successfully acquired numerous big brands as affinity partners for which they now run their own-brand insurance brokerage services, including M&S car insurance (linked to the right). They operate so many brands that they have been able to launch their own price comparison site that checks only BISL brands (comparethemarket). Budget brands also work with other price comparison sites which is where many consumers find their Budget-brokered policies, albeit usually with an alternative brand name attached. They are now responsible for about a third of all UK car insurance policies and have clearly come a very long way since their relatively recent start in 1992.
