Car Insurance Price | Car Insurance Supermarket
Get the best car insurance
price available via any of the price comparison services we list above.
We can recommend any one of them for routine use albeit with the
caveats outlined below.
Firstly, generally, you get the policy you pay for. Those policies
topping the list of results from a car insurance
price comparison
service may be cheap but they are unlikely to offer very broad
comprehensive cover.
Secondly, car insurance price comparison sites, at best, provide
summary policy information. This often needs to be supplemented with
data from other sources if you don't want to select a policy blind to
the associated cover. The latter approach of 'buying blind', although
probably quite common, is unwise. This is because there are so many
cut-price policies on the market that even their providers would not
describe as offering the best of cover. If you don't check out what you
are buying, you could be unwittingly buying very limited cover despite
the compelling cheap car insurance price tag.
Thirdly, partly relating to the above two points, there is no
obligation to choose the cheapest car insurance price you see. A choice
further down the list is often more prudent.
Fourthly, taking account of the above points, you may need to check
several insurer's websites directly to compare the best car insurance
prices in terms of the cover offered by each. Make sure you do check
the right policies - the car insurance price comparison site may have
identified a 'no frills' variant of the standard cover.
Fifthly, you do have to consider whether a price comparison site is
right for you if good quality cover, rather than the cheapest price, is
more important to you. We do list most of the UK's top insurers here
which you can also get a car insurance price from and they have the
advantage of easy policy assessment and, typically, a better level of
cover than the more basic policies identified by aggregators as
offering a particularly cheap car insurance price.
In fact, although we see no reason not to use a car insurance price
comparison service, there are those that having used one return to
direct insurance services. Reasons for this include the arguments
presented above and that sometimes the car insurance price shown by the
aggregator is not the final price paid to the insurer for the policy.
Clearly, if you cannot trust the car insurance price presented,
particularly given their other shortcomings, aggregator systems do
become somewhat less attractive.
Taking account of all of the above, an argument can be made for
starting off with a direct insurer and we list some great deals here.
Going direct makes particular sense if you are in a special group that
a specific direct insurer targets - for instance, female drivers.
