Best Motor Insurance from the Car Insurance Supermarket
The best motor insurance for
your needs is determined by several different criteria. Some of these
are entirely subjective as they relate to your own personal
preferences. Thus what you consider to be the best motor
insurance for you may be entirely different to what another person
considers to be the best motor insurance for them, even
where they otherwise share your personal profile and have
the same make, model & age of car as you.
No surprise there, of course, but we will try to look at what
constitutes the best motor insurance from an objective
perspective here. As it happens, it helps to look at various subjective
positions to do this.
If we consider the person who equates best with cheapest, then, for
him, the best motor insurance is the cheapest motor
insurance. This person goes straight to a price comparison site and
buys the cheapest quote he can find. He probably doesn't even consider
the cover that he is getting at this budget price. And there are plenty
just like him in the UK.
But is 'cheapest' a good, sensible or safe definition of the best
motor insurance quote? No, because 'best' is a quality descriptor, of
which price is only one component. In short, you pay for what you get.
Should best motor insurance refer to the best quality cover
then? No, because this is not a useful working definition either as it
implies that only the most all-inclusive policy will be adequate and
such a policy will be very expensive.
The optimal buy then, the objective best motor insurance if
you will, might best be seen as the optimal balance beween price and
cover that effectively meets your needs.
Unfortunately, this approach to the best motor insurance
puts you in something of a no-man's land when it comes to which
services you might most effectively use to identify your cover. On the
one hand, you do not wish to pay too much - which pushes you towards
using a price comparison site; on the other hand, you also have a need
to find reasonable quality cover - which pushes you in the direction of
a quality cover provider such as M&S or Direct Line.
In effect, this means that either route to the best motor
insurance (price comparison or direct) is feasible, but do take care to
check over the policy you choose before purchase and do not allow price
to become an over-riding factor in your choice of car insurance
cover.
