Womens Motor Insurance from the Car
Insurance Supermarket
Note:
As of 21 Dec 2012, gender cannot contribute to premium calculations.
If you
want to buy women's car insurance right now, we would
recommend going to our article on women's
car insurance in our
'Buyers Guide' section that offers
the most useful advice on this.
There are several car
insurers that offer tailored womens motor insurance policies. These
insurers are either women-only providers (dropped by us as no-one was
using them) - or they are general insurers (popular here) that offer
women-only policies as
well.
Arguably, there are certain advantages to going direct to a womens
motor insurance specialist. First, their cover is based
around the needs of women including safety requirements when broken
down in a remote location. They often also offer enhanced personal
effects cover, where, for example, a handbag is stolen form the car
interior. Because they are not the most basic of policies, they usually
won't beat the cheapest car
insurance quote from a price comaprison site, however,
and this has stopped them from being a good choice here.
In fact, when you compare like-for-like, our direct car insurance
providers here usually are
competively-priced policies. Regretably, in our view, because low price
has come to dominate people's insurance-buying behaviour (given the
ease of use of price comparison sites), women-only providers get
squeezed out somewhat on sites like this that offer both price
comparison and direct services.
Consequently, we have had to drop all our womens motor
insurance providers here as they were not selling in a market dominated
by low price policy selections. This is a pity but we are a business
that has to respond to market forces. Given that we have maintained Yes
Insurance, the opportunity remains to go direct to this general insurer
that offers good deals for females and markets itself partly as a womens
motor insurance provider and it's certainly one that we would
recommend checking out.
Of course, the womens motor insurance providers do
participate with price comparison sites; so using an aggregator system
does not prevent you from identifying one of them through such a
service, assuming that they are able to compete favourably on price.
Of course any female drivers seeking fairly good standard cover for
their womens motor insurance may want to check out some
leading motor insurers direct. We have a high uptake of Marks and
Spencer car insurance from women here, for example.
At the end of the day, as price matters hugely to most, we do include
a good selection of price comparison services here (see links at the
foot of this page). These services remain the most used resources on
this site,
including for womens motor insurance, consistent
with their ease of use and ability to save motorists tens, even
hundreds, of pounds on their renewal quotes.
We always ask people to look to cover as well as price. It's certainly
inadvisable to always select the cheapest-priced quote.
