Compare Car Insurance Quotes
It's the way that most choose to
select their motor cover in the UK. They use a price comparison system
to automatically compare car insurance quotes for them.
It's easy to understand the popularity of these quote aggregator
systems. They are very powerful tools. It really is quite impressive
that after filling in your details just once, you can get many hundreds
of prices in just a few seconds.
As a result of this inherant powerfulness, there's no disputing that
they are an ideal way to save money when you compare car
insurance quotes through them.
The difficulty with them, however, is there mono-dimensional approach.
Some of these sites do offer some policy features information but
basically results are displayed from a price perspective.
If your intention is to identify the cheapest price around, then there
is no better way to compare car insurance quotes from so
many companies and, if we cannot persuade you via our discussion below
that always selecting the cheapest cover is a false economy, then you
truly will get the best service to meet your needs if you compare
car insurance quotes with a price comparison site.
However, to uncritically compare car insurance quotes
simply to select the cheapest is a high risk strategy that is
ultimately self-defeating. Even without much understanding of the
insurance market, it should be obvious that when you pay less, you get
less cover.
To reduce their costs and compete more effectively on these price
comparison platforms, insurance companies have to develop increasingly
more paired back policies that are not just 'no frills' but extreme
variants of 'no frills'. They also have to push up the excess payment
to reduce their costs.
While many may not see this as sufficient cause not to use a price
comparison site to compare car insurance quotes, it should,
at the very least, alert those using these systems to be cautious and
to check the polciy features in some detail before comitting to a
particualrly cheap policy.
We doubt that amny people generally apply this level of care when using
aggreagators to compare car insurance quotes, but there is
no disputing the necessity.
Unfortunatley, as eluded to above, these sites are not strong on
providing that level of policy detail. Hence, there is often a need to
visit the insurer's own website if you're muddled about exactly what
you're getting when trying to compare car insurance quotes
from the persective of their associated cover rather than just price.
All of this does tend to bring us to the conclusion that going direct
to a top insurance provider (we list several below) where the standard
cover is usually good, could save time, build in better quality control
and need not cost more given that like polcieis in a competitive market
are closely priced.
