- Updated introduction:
In the past, we used to provide
links here to several ladies car insurance specialists. They
were not selling well on this site alongside
competing services such as our price comparison systems; so we had to
drop all of them.
We dropped
our final ladies car insurance provider after writing the article below
which is the original article of 29 April. We suggest that you skip to
the last two paragraphs for our current advice
on ladies car insurance.
What we
previously said on ladies car insurance, when we did it here...
Insurepink
remains as our only nod in the direction of a ladies car
insurance specialist provider.
While the Insurepink car insurance uptake here is limited by the same
market forces - that is, that people like to go for cheap motor
insurance through comparison services - it does still remain a good
choice for those willing to pursue it.
When
you compare a Ferrari to a Mini, you wouldn't expect the Ferrari
to be cheaper as you're getting much more. This does not
render a Ferrari undesirable, just more expensive.
In relation to ladies car insurance, the price difference
between the Ferrari (that is, ladies car insurance from a
women-only provider) and the Mini (bog standard 'no frills' cover as
found on a comparison site) is affordable.
It is therefore unnecessary
to dismiss a ladies car insurance provider without first
considering the advantages of going direct for this type of cover as
opposed to simply getting 'general' cover at low cost through a car
insurance comparison site.
Obviously, a product tailored to the needs of women is going to better
meet the needs of any female driver. Isn't it worth, then, paying a bit
more for useful safety features, such as, for example, enhanced call
out times for a woman stranded in her vehicle as is commonly offered
with ladies
car insurance?
In addition, ladies car insurance at the lowest possible
cost found via general insurance services can be very paired down cover
that when compared to what a ladies car insurance
specialist offers, albeit for a little more, does not represent the
best
value policy.**
** This, and the
paragraphs preceeding it, remain our view, but as a commercial venture,
we had to respond to market forces. The following remains relevant:
Current
advice:
If you decide to use a price comparison system, it is
helpful
to check over the cover carefully. Many miss this step out when
attracted to a particualrly cheap car insurance price.
People using this site prefer not to use a dedicated ladies
car insurance specialist but
Yes Insurance, for example, offers keen prices for women drivers over
the age of 25; while M&S car insurance is also a popular choice
among women users of this site.
