Car Insurance Rates
Most people are looking for competitive car insurance rates. They are
looking for as cheap a price as possible for that level of cover that
appears to meet their minimum requirements. Some don't formally apply
any minimum requirements. Such people are influenced almost entirely by
price alone.
How should you go about obtaining these minimum car insurance rates?
Most would say that because a price comparison site compares so many
quotes that using one such service is the best way to find the cheapest
car insurance rates
around. Indeed, this is a valid statement. A car insurance comparison
site is the best way to find
the cheapest car insurance rates
of all.
However, when you select the cheapest quote found in this way, you're
selecting the cheapest of 100s, even 1000s of policies. You wouldn't go into an electrical goods warehouse
and demand the cheapest of 1000s of TV sets. At the very least, you'd
want to know what you're getting for your money. There is no reason to
treat the purchase of any other product, including car insurance,
differently.
If you have an accident, you'll want a reasonable insurance policy to
cover you adequately and not leave you out of pocket. The cover
associated with the cheapest car
insurance rates may not do this. Thus, allowing low price to be your
main determinant of policy choice is only reasonable where you have
carefully looked over the cover and you are satisfied that it is
adequate for your needs.
Frankly, it's hard to argue on a very objective basis that the very 'no
frills' cover found to be the cheapest on price comparison sites is
likely to meet this criterion. To
buy one of the cheapest car
insurance rates without knowledge
of the cover is especially risky.
Very often, it makes better sense to select a policy that is not among
the top two or three lowest car
insurance rates as presented by a price comparison system. If you can't get enough policy information form the
comparison site, look at the insurance company website for more details.
If you know that you'd like more impressive cover at the outset, we can
recommend going direct to a top seller such as Tesco car insurance
(link below) that offers a good balance between cost and cover.
In our view, the UK public have been too ready to accept inferior cover
simply to save a little money on their car insurance rates.
